About THPP

Thinking Healthy Program Peer-delivered is an evidence-based treatment for mothers suffering with perinatal depression. Nearly 1 in 5 women suffers through perinatal depression in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Treatment gap for perinatal depression exceeds 90% in low resource settings. The THPP is designed for integration into maternal and child health care programmes in primary care. It is aimed at community health workers. It requires no previous knowledge or experience of mental health care. THPP focuses on 3 areas:1:Mother’s personal health, 2)Mother’s relationship with the baby & 3) Mother’s relationship with people around her.And to deliver behavior activation as one of its core components these 3 steps are followed:1. Identifying unhealthy actions, 2) replacing unhealthy actions with healthy actions 3) Practice healthy actions.

Sangath through Project EMPOWER has successfully digitized Thinking Healthy Program-peer delivered (THPP), psychosocial intervention for perinatal depression delivered by lay health workers in low resource settings.

About the THPP Digital course- Digital THPP course consists of 6 modules and a total of 45 videos which roughly takes around 5 hours to complete including answering self-assessment questionnaires. THPP has been adapted from World Health Organisations Thinking Healthy Program manual and contains behavior activation as one of its core components.
